Colorado visit

Well, I got to fly out to Colorado and visit with our grandchildren. What fun. I arrived on Steven Weatherspoon's birthday and we had a cookout at Gammy's home. Missy, Leroy, Elaine, Audrey, Wanda, Genny, Ronda, Becky, and cousins more came to the cook out. We had lots of food and the cousins seem to enjoy each other. Lots of popcicles were eaten and freezer door froze from being opened so much. All is well, because Stephanie and I thawed it out with a hair dryer...well it worked.

We went to the city park pool, rides, and to the Denver Natural History and Science Museum then off to Casa Bonitos on Colfax. I can not believe it was still there. We raised the Provost children there and now grands and cousins are coming. We had a great time meeting with Melanie with her children and Shauna and her children and others. We did not lose any children this time. I watched the purses and other things such as the sopiapillas and they were not lost either but most ended in my belly. haha....with honey on them. (fried dough hollow in center cut corner and pour in the honey. I did order more for the others so they could have some too. After that the Weatherspoon family went to visit their other cousins in Colorado and I went back to Pueblo. I enjoyed visiting with Leroy and Elaine, Audrey and Darlene. I am sending some pictures for all to see what fun we had.

Summertime in SC

Well, we are busy canning tomatoes, freezing squash, beans, onions, and anything we can. Prices are so high and my garden is so small that I had to find fields to go pick from. Last weekend on the 4th Uncle Burley (mother's brother) and my sisters Jean and Dianne went tomato picking. There were so many tomatoes in that field. I wish we had more boxes. The owner says that with all the rumors about samonella he did not sell or ship as many tomatoes as he wished. They are so good and man it was hard to leave that field. I survived! We were so dirty and hot. Weather was in the 90's before we left there. Edisto Island is about 35 miles from Charleston. It was a nice ride and we got to remember things of long ago. Our grandparents lived at Edisto Island and raised watermelon and beans and other veggies on their 50 acres. As a child I visited there often for any birthday so we could be together as a family and have fun with cousins. Great memories!

The weather is warm here, hot. Hurricane Bertha is in the ocean but it does not seem a threat so we are getting a practice run of the hurricane season with this one. Man, watch it turn and hit near us....! Prayers are appreciated.

Brodey is growing and pulling himself up on things. David and April have a youtube site but I am not sure what it is. Brodey is on there. He says hi, and other things we don't understand. He is doing great sign language since April is a teacher in this area. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbTJzfcPnU8&feature=user

Jeffrey is going in the 3rd grade at a new school for Science and Math. It is a magnet school for these subjects. Felicia and I visited it and it seemed so wonderful and almost all the teachers have master degrees in teaching.

Calvin and I bought a boat but it is a fixer upper. Calvin is doing a great job and I do a great job watching. I did hold a seat for him one time. I sure he is ready to go out in the river next week.

I am flying out to Colorado next week July 14 to enjoy our grandchildren. Calvin and I hope to go back out Sept or October again. I am not sure. He is trying to work hard with the fuel prices going up so high. Diesel went up 20 cents since Sunday night here. I am sure it is that way everywhere. We have not hit 4.00 yet but I am sure it is coming. We see most of the country is already there. We have a reunion the end of Nov 2008 at Disney World for the Provost family.

Ronnie and David started new jobs. Ronnie will be building airplanes and David went to work for FedEx/Kinkos copier and fax company, etc.. Great benefits for them both. We are so happy for them.

Robert is working and will start school again in September to finish Physical Therapy Asst.

Pictures will be coming! I forgot where I put my camera charger....Help...Brainfreeze...

March with the Provost

Well, March has been an interesting month. We were rained, tornadoed, hailed, sunshine, cold and still the flowers are here in time for Easter. I will add a picture tomorrow with those beautiful azaleas blooming also the Pear flower trees. Watch for the pictures....!
We have done some construction on our home with a contractor oh was that what he was? Well, Calvin has redone the work which we paid a contractor for? with the help of his sons and daughter in law Felicia. Of course I shined the base boards and stained the wood pieces. We added some berber carpet also. Now with the help of Ronnie and his father in law Ronnie will spray our ceiling with popcorn stuff I think they call it. Ralph might be able to move back to his room before June? hahaha!
Our tin roof keeps all that much needed rain on the outside not the inside now so we won't have to have more construction. Thank Goodness! Tommie added more shelves inside her kitchen cabinets with again the help of sons...! Calvin redid some drawers. This makes Tommie so happy. Man, what can make a woman happy! Tommie restained the cabinets and stained the broom closet David and Ronnie made over a year ago. As you see Tommie, Me, I , have been watching the HGTV channel and have some great ideas for everyone to do. Organizing my office, redoing or sanding some of the wood floors and so much more....WOW!!
Well, I now have an ear infection in both ears. One inner and two outers then the sinus infection all the from the flu virus. Lizzy was worried that grandma got her ear infection. Grandma had to tell her it is tough to get those germs from IOWA to SC in a few days by telephone.
Oh, we had a tornado come real close to our home or in the sky close to our home but did not touch down. Well, I was sick and fell asleep in our bedroom next to a WINDOW. Calvin and Ralph were in the center hall leaving me by the window and asleep while they watch to see if the tornado would come down.. He assured me that if he had seen the tornado that he would have dragged me into the hall beside him. Well, I am so reassured of this..Glad I slept through the weather that night. Thanks Calvin. you are the best husband ever! Love you too dear or is this what is called the 40th anniversary year revelation? The story is true but Tommie knows Calvin would be her be her superman and save the day.
Remember look for the pictures...!

Pictures are battery, horse ride downtown Charleston, Old African culture making baskets of sweetgrass, St. Philips Church (very old Rev. War, and Middleton Plantation with Flat Stanley taking a rest! Hope you like them.

January 27, 2008 -The Prophet, Seer, and Revelator

I am sad to hear about our dear Prophet passing. I know he missed his lovely wife of so many years. He mentioned this several times when speaking. I have went back and read the last conference talks where he spoke 3 times during this conference. Yes, I believe too he is having a reunion with his dear wife and family members who went before. I am sure he is talking to Pres. Faust also. He did make you feel good and important as women and mothers. He sometime said do your best and that is all we can do. I felt so good when he said one time he still learns something when he goes to the temple. I thought WOW, if he is learning still then it is okay for me not to know it all. He will be missed with his smile and humor and his ability to talk to anyone anywhere, the President of USA, TV, radio, newspaper and then to each of us. 13 million members, over 100 temples..WOW We do know the church will go on with a new leader and his talents and purpose will be known. I am looking forward to this new adventure with the church leaders.

January in SC

Well, here we are in 2008. We hope all get the blesses they are in need of. We received many in 2007 and feel blessed already in 2008. We have great families in Colorado, Iowa, SC, Utah, New Mexico and many other places. I am challenging each of our family to read the Book of Mormon again. It is on www.readthescriptures.com. Team is Nona in honor of Gammy. We got our much needed rain and cold weather. Almost two weeks ago about Jan 16th we were at the temple in Columbia SC about 100 miles away and it SNOWED on us...Some of us stayed out and just let the snow fall on our coats and scarfs. What fun! We are never too old to enjoy the snow since we don't get it alot. We left and about 50 miles away it stopped snow and rained. BooHoo...! We wanted something in Charleston. Well, we can not have it all. We did get down in the 20's at night and 40's in the day time. My birdbath was frozen. Poor birds! It stayed that way for about 2-3 days.
January had alot of events. Ronnie and Jill went to Disney World and stayed at Animal Kingdom. Animals were right at their window. This was a birthday present for Jill from all family and friends. They had lots of fun. Ronnie celebrated his birthday on Jan 18th. On Sunday after we had a cookout of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers to celebrate that 28th birthday!! Gordon is next 27th turning 6 years old. Stephanie's birthday is 31st, Stephanie how old are you dear? Don't get too old then We will have to be older!
At the home front we are waiting for February and then March when flowers start coming. Our camellias are blooming which does each December and January not as big as previous years freeze got some of them.
We went to see Alvin and The chipmunks..What fun! Cute show for the family!

Christmas in SC

Well, each day when we get up we are not sure if it is shorts weather or sweats weather. I am new at this so I will try hard to get it going.

Christmas in Charleston was beautiful. We went to the 1000 light show at the County Park. We went to several movies. Enchanted (every will enjoy), Waterhorse (for everyone)and Bucket List (funny, funny and then sad too. real good). We decorated with the help of Robert on the outside and Tommie just bought a real tree about 3 1/2 inches for the inside. We ran out of room. Can you believe this! Calvin bought us a sectional couch and it takes up alot of room. The big dining room table that sits 10-12 takes up room also. We had the tree by the bay window for several years. Now it is on the table behind the couch. Villages went up so we can pretend there is snow here. Finally got cards out and Christmas came. Christmas Eve we gathered the children who live here or near and went on our yearly caroling to senior family and friends home. We came home and made our tradition of stacky ups...! Then opened presents, loving each minute. Hope yours was wonderful too.
